• Sturdy, broken-in mountaineering boots with excellent ankle support
• Warm, non-cotton layering system: fleece, down jacket, thermal base layers
• A windproof and waterproof jacket and pants (the weather can change in an instant)
• Warm gloves, a hat/beanie, and a neck gaiter/buff
• High-SPF sun protection (sunscreen, lip balm, sunglasses)
• Trekking poles (highly recommended for the descent)
• Headlamp with extra batteries (essential for the early morning start)
• 2L water capacity or bladder and high-energy snacks
• A 30L daypack for summit day
