Discover Sidi Chamharouch: A Spiritual & Scenic Day Hike

A full-day experience starting from Marrakech or Imlil, following the classic Toubkal approach trail through Berber villages and orchards to the mystical Sidi Chamharouch shrine at 2,350m, with sweeping views of the Toubkal massif and the Ait Mizane valley.

Join fellow adventurers on this moderate journey through the timeless High Atlas – where every step uncovers Berber heritage and breathtaking vistas. Limited to 12 guests for an intimate experience.

Tour Highlights

Follow the famous Toubkal trail from Imlil towards the high mountains without committing to the summit.
Walk through the stone-built Berber village of Aroumd, with its walnut groves and terraced fields.
Climb gradually alongside the Assif n'Isougouane riverbed with ever-improving views of Jbel Toubkal and surrounding peaks.
Reach the hamlet of Sidi Chamharouch, a pilgrimage site marked by a large white-painted rock and marabout shrine.
Enjoy a picnic or simple hot lunch near the waterfalls and stream below the shrine.
Ideal acclimatisation hike or standalone spiritual and scenic day in Toubkal National Park.

What to Pack

  • Comfortable walking or light hiking shoes with good grip; trails are rocky in places.
  • Layered clothing to adapt to cooler air at higher altitude and warmer midday sun.
  • Light windproof or waterproof jacket in case of changing mountain weather.
  • Sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen; much of the route is exposed.
  • 1.5–2L of water per person plus light snacks or energy bars.
  • Small daypack for water, layers, camera, and personal items.
  • Respectful clothing suitable for visiting a pilgrimage area (avoid very short shorts/tops).
