Packing light starts by removing duplication, not essential protection. Confirm the overnight and luggage arrangements before choosing what stays home.
Make three piles
Separate personal essentials, items provided by the organiser and optional extras. Check uncertain inclusions before removing them from your bag. A sleeping bag, towel or spare clothing requirement depends on the actual accommodation.
Reduce duplicates first
Choose clothing that works in several combinations. Decant suitable toiletries and avoid carrying several devices that serve the same purpose. Do not remove water capacity, necessary medication or weather protection just to reach a target pack weight.
Test the finished pack
Walk locally with the complete load and check comfort and access. Use the Atlas packing checklist, then confirm transport arrangements with Atlas Hikes. A slightly heavier organised pack can be more useful than a minimal one missing something essential.
