Toubkal summit day includes climbing, high ground and the return. Organise equipment and decisions around the complete day.
Prepare before departure
Have lighting, clothing, food and water in the agreed pack. Ask what happens to other luggage. Resolve missing items before the morning briefing rather than delaying the group when everyone is ready.
Understand turn-around decisions
Know how to report feeling unwell and what happens if the objective changes. Do not wait for a scheduled break to mention a significant problem. The return should remain clear even when the summit is abandoned.
Save attention for descending
Stop in safe places for pictures and equipment adjustments. Keep essential supplies available throughout the day. Read the altitude guide before travelling. Reaching the top does not end the day's responsibility to yourself and the group.
